good looking material. Whats the difference between the lace and serape? First time ever hearing about serape.

Bravura Cabochon Designs - Not really in the trading market right now. Didn't even have room for this rough in the shop.
realrockhound - Also a learning experience for me. Had heard of this rough (there is a good RTH thread by Holajonathan) but never had any.
This stuff grades from the "old lace" patterns to the serape/sarape all in the same hole in the ground. Here's a random chunk that shows a little of the fortification type pattern in the lower part, and it's completely different above the boundary layer between them.

The investigation begins - here are both ends of one rock. Lots of variety in the lot we got, so I'm sure there will be surprises all through it.
After the group shot there are the faced sides of the two heels, then the best one of the bunch. This rough is unlike any I've cut.
I don't know what it is about orbs(and tubes) in agates/jaspers; they are so amazing to look at. That is a fantastic piece of Mexican Lace!

The Q-site dealer I got some from in 2021 also had what he called Rosetta Stone, basically Rosetta lace agate. It's all varieties of the agate pulled from the vast mining area in the province of Chihuahua, Mexico.

I had to look up Rosetta Lace 'cuz I don't know all those types by their trade names - but I know I'm starting to like this stuff more now. Here are photos of a few slices from five random pieces from this buy.
No. 1
No. 2 - Side A
No. 2 - Side B
No. 3 - Side A
No. 3 - Side B
No. 4
No. 5 - 1st Slab
No. 5 - 2nd Slab
So far, so good. Lots of variety, with not too many "dead zones". Boxes are still available in the sale thread.

That is some nice looking lace for $4 plus shipping since each slice will cut a very nice cab!

Thanks, Victor.
Good to hear coming from you, 'cuz I know you've seen more of that type than we have.
It seems in most of these chunks have random "blobs" of white, black, or reddish material in the middle of them. It shows up in these recent photos, but they are still cuttable. I see areas where I could incorporate some of the "non-lacy" material and still end up with a good cab.
