For those who know more than I do about imperial jaspers, is there a difference in mexican imperial jaspers? I have a bunch that has this spider web pattern in it in greens, purples, etc.. but is this stuff different from the stuff that forms the orbs in it, or is it all from the same locality?

Another nice "bucket find" at the old homestead!!
I'm no expert...but I think RIJ is more nodular than the Imperial...
"Royal Imperial Jasper is a subtle pretty colored Jasper from Mexico. It comes from north of the border between Jalisco and Zacatecas, Mexico about 50 miles north of the city of Guadalajara." (barlowsgems.net)
" Imperial Jasper is found about 50 miles northwest of Guadalajara, Mexico on the east side of a steep canyon. (thegemshop.com)
I think I remember reading somewhere that they're both in the same canyon...just on opposite sides...if I'm remembering correctly.

After doing some extensive searching, I started to turn up the same info as you jasoninsd. RIJ is nodules and has the eggs/orbs and IJ is more of the spider webbing and layering.

Oh yummy! I love me Imperial Jasper and Royal Imperial Jasper. When it has the spiderwebs in it, it's even yummier! One of my favorite pendants is a RIJ green with spiderwebs.
