Ran into this at the local thrift store. Sears unit, looks like it’s never been ran. I have to go back and try to find the barrel and see if any related equipment makes it onto the floor.

Cool find! That's part of the fun and frustration with thrift stores - people doing the sorting don't know what things are which lands you a great price BUT stuff is always missing

It’s running like a charm after some oiling of the shaft bearings. I have multiple 3lb barrels so this will definitely get some use.

looks like scott/murray or Lortone 3#? It has a metal tag with Sears and model number info on it.

I also was expecting a puppy. Though I’m not sure a tumbler is much lower maintenance than a puppy! Hope you find the barrel. It’ll be exciting if you spot it!

Sadly no just the tumbler base. It was running fine for about two weeks and then the belt busted. Lot of cracks in that belt so I suspect this sat in a shed or closet for many years. I will locate a compatible belt for it once we are passed the holiday madness lol.

I can't get it to where I can put the belt on even if I got one. I'm thinking of putting an iso on here for a lortone qt-12 base at some point and just salvaging the barrels. You happen to know anyone with a base who'd be willing to sell?

Lortone and some others made all the lapidary tools sold by sears and wards in the day. My "craftsman" metal lathe was made by Atlas. www.thetumblersbench.com/product/tumbler-belts-o-ring-style/

I will be in Quartzsite for a few days next month so if I see one I will pm you and grab it for you if it fits in your budget.

Thanks Lee! I will definitely grab on of these belts and get this baby rolling again. Thanks for the tumbler history too; so much knowledge here we could write a tumbling encyclopedia together!

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I don't have any e-pay apps, so I'd have to snail mail you the cash after I got it. Would that work for you? I figure it'd fit in a lfrb or maybe a mfrb. I'm jealous, I'd love to go to quartzite! -Nicholas
