That does indeed look like underwater coral perkins17. And your photos have jumped up a bunch of notches - good job (and wanted to let you know someone noticed). Glad to see you back.
Any chance of a photo of the slab it came from ?
Patty
PS- Happy Thanksgiving

perkins17 The cab looks great. I hope the contest entry picture could be as clear as the Girdle shot.

At first I thought I wasn't going to enter the contest this month, as I didn't think I had any thundereggs.
And I wasn't going to beg, borrow, or steal one, from any other members, just to enter the contest (not my way). And I really wanted to buy that nice blue Pietersite and not spend money on a thunderegg. So I was looking through my meager rock & slab collection ,& low and behold, I came up with what I think is a thunderegg.
At least from my research on thundereggs it fits - An outer softer matrix, with an agatized center.
Now I never saw this in it's "egg" form, so if the experts tell me it's not a thunderegg, I will withdraw it , no problem.
I will say this stone was most difficult to polish, due to the difference in hardness.
And it took me a number of tries to get the little scratches out of the center.
But I was determined to get a nice clear center & try to show off that cool ripple pattern in there.
It was a pretty miserable slab to work with, as it had been cut on an extreme taper (I got it this way at the rock show in Alabama, not my doing).
So I started out on my flat lap, trying to flatten it as much as possible, before I even started cutting it out.
Cold Mountain Thunderegg ( thanks jasoninsd for the ID) Finished size is approx. 1 3/4" X 1 3/4" .
Thanks for the challenge, & like I said, if this is indeed NOT considered to be a thunderegg, then please tell me NOW, don't wait until the end.

That came out really freaking nice. I like the subtle banding and brecciation at the bottom. Good color contrast and pattern capture.

Thanks realrockhound . It was a bear to get that center polished - but worth it in the end. Good thing I had the time yesterday to get it finished ! I was thankful for that
Patty (still feeling pretty happy it is a thunderegg after all !!!!)

liveoak Cool egg Patty. And nicely cut.👍 I’m glad you got to enter the contest. I have a feeling most of us here have rocks we didn’t even know we had! I suppose that’s a good problem to have!

Truth be told, I think I went back chasing scratches 4 or 5 times over a couple of days in that clear center .
I was about ready to throw it in the bin one day.
So you're making me smile that I stuck with it, thank you.

Bravura Cabochon Designs - Curses!! LOL - That's a really nice Priday! The plumes almost look elongated...or fanned! Pretty cool!

@vanilla_gorilla Beautiful cab. Like the orientation of the moss. The color and style reminds me of the old Mexican flame agate.
Liking all the entries so far. The quality and variety of all the cabs thus far, there will most definitely be an even spread of votes. Really liking what everyone has done. Exactly what I was hoping to accomplish with this theme. Keep it up.

Change of entry, another priday moss agate thunderegg. This might be the nicest moss agate I’ve cut, the base agate color is a mix of carnelian, blue, and clear agate. The color change in that moss is pretty phenomenal. 30mm x 48mm. Cool cab, but now I have to wonder with 5 days left, how many alternatives you might consider
Patty..... who couldn't help sayin' it, I'm sure many thought it
