Hi all! I will be traveling to Los Angeles, West Hollywood area in January for my Dad's 80th birthday party and would LOVE to get some good rockhounding in while I'm there. I know the Pacific coast is supposed to be a hounders dream (or at least better than Ohio haha), but just wondering if anyone has any specific locations that they frequent that they'd love to share? I follow a few folks on tiktok who hound at the top of the cliffs by Palos Verdes, but just want to be sure I hit where I'm allowed and especially since my time will be short. TIA!!

I'm not much help here, but if you can get down to the ocean, you'll probably find some cool rocks. Use Google maps to see if the beaches are rocky or sandy. I found some big agates and jaspers down in San Diego a year or so back. I hope that helps,

I've found a couple of places that mention high rockhounding traffic but they are all about an hour away, which is probably typical in LA driving  . Just don't want to find myself on private property . |

I think the BEST rocks you'll find in the Hollywood area are going to be dangling on the digits of half the population over there! If you can figure out how to "hound" those, you'll have it made!! Just don't get caught! LOL  *Another example of me not adding anything worthwhile towards the actual question! Now back to your regularly scheduled program! LOL |
