Found this in the Moline Il area amongst landscape rock. It's about 4cm long 2cm across. It does not react with acid. In the photo, it has been wetted with water. It is blackish grey when dry. Very new to this fossil id stuff "iffin" it's a fossil. Does anyone recognize what this is?

Not fossil. Igneous. note the quartz veins are more weather resistant than the base which is probably basalt.
