Ok...3 1.5 tumblers. Should I reserve one barrel and run it empty for the polishing step only?
Or fill all 3 and be a patient grasshopper?
I have some pretty smooth quartz and amethyst for one 1.5 barrel....Green Adventurine for another....and another barrel of quartz and amethyst that's pretty sharp.

I've read Rosebud's post. I think my question has been answered.
I think I'll reserve the 3rd barrel exclusively for polishing stages to be safe.
I have a pressure washer and can really clean those babies out between stages. ;D
I just got the thing and already I think I want more barrels!

I know the feeling. I just got a 3A then a 33B and now i think i need another 33B I figure instead of just getting 2 more replacement barrels i might as well just get another 33B because it comes with 2 anyways and then i can have more tumbling going on at once! ;D ;D

how do you know it will smell like dirt? ? have you distilled patience before? i'd like to think it would smell like....oh, i don't know...rain, maybe. or lily-of-the-valley.....old libraries, perhaps....a soft comfy smell. what would patience smell like? KD

ROFL ... No, haven't distilled any patience lately. I don't have any to distill. I was just thinking it would smell like dirt because we're waiting on the rocks to tumble and generally you get rocks from digging around in the dirt.
If I had to pick, I think patience would smell like my grandma, soft, with a hint of lavender. With 12 kids, she had the patience of a saint.

It would hae to smell like something I have never smelled before, as I've never had any. Think it would be sweet, though. My husband finally said the majic words: "We need another tumbler." I almost cried cookie

Have you ordered the new one yet, Cookie, and what is it? And if you haven't, what are you waiting for, Hubby to change his mind? ;D BE

BE, same old sad story. Money. We are about to go on vacation. We couldn't afford to spend 2 nights, so we're spending 3. My oven hasn't worked in 6 months and it's still below rocks n stuff on the priority list. Can't decide between rotary/vibe. I'm leaning toward a bigger vibe, but I just don't know. Anybody got a pro/con list that uses both?

[glow=red,2,300]Yeee hawwww Cookie![/glow] Another tumbler, that's awesome! Don't both have pros and cons? Why not have one of each? Whatever you decide, I hope you don't have to wait too long to get it. Here's hoping you get a big rush on your jewelry sales.

I betcha Cookie will be disappointed with how much longer rotator tumblers take.
I might get a chance to do a website for another rockhound. In return, he'll trade me his vibrator tumbler. At first I thought nah....then...it made alot of sense. Since I've been tumbling...I check it daily and am just chomping at the bit for it to shape more quickly.
Just a thought...
I don't think I ever told you guys what I did prior to becoming addicted to collecting rocks again. *chuckles* I have a server I lease in Tampa *gulp....hurricanes go away* and do websites for a hand-full of clients. Been doing this for the last two years. Prior to that...and in-between, I'm a decorative painter with quite few books behind my belt. I'm on a sabbatical from painting...(it's lasted two years)
I'm a geek/artist....guess that's why I fit in! ;D ;D ;D

My oven hasn't worked in 6 months and it's still below rocks n stuff on the priority list.LOL! Who needs an oven? And if you desperately need one, the solution is a homemade solar oven. Cheap and easy to make, just need a couple of boxes or some plywood and some tin foil home.earthlink.net/~drduggee/solar.htmsolarcooking.org/cookit.htmAnd there's some links for plans. Now GET AWAY from those rocks and make yourself a solar oven! ;D llana

Llana, I'll have to show that to my husband. He can't build it (I probably could) but he can cook good food on a hot rock. Think I'm too spoiled to the vibe, and I'll stick to that. I'm gonna post a new thread about my jewlery. I'm such a chicken!
