Hey y'all I'm going to be in western SC and NC and would love recommendations for spots to hound or adventure. Was thinking RickB may have some experience up there. This is my first time back as a Rockhound.

Look up Chunky Gal Mountain on the internet (plenty of info). It's about fifteen miles west of Franklin NC. and is a good area to look for corundum (ruby/sapphire).
Primitive camping along Buck Creek which winds around Chunky Gal Mtn. Garnets in Buck Creek at higher elevations. Further west going off the mountains there
are staurolite locations.
