Was gifted this large Slab (if you can call 2" still a slab). Think I might like it a lot more if I knew what it is, where it's from. Brown/red pretty much, but there are hints of green with some of the orbs. The orbs are not super well defined like Ocean Jasper, but many have agate centers. It's polished fairly well, looks & feels pretty much like agate/Jasper. There is an oxidized rind on this piece, looks like the boulder was fairly round to start. Very consistent material from edge to edge. Kinda looks 'granitey', but it's not. Not sure what one does with such a thick slab, but thanks for taking a look. without flash ( tungsten light) Flash Closeup Edge

I'm gonna guess some sort of ryolite based on the outer layer. I've found and cut something similar on the wa coast, and don't really have a solid ID.

Although I did find quite a few orbicular jasper, I don't think that's what I found. I found a little pebble about half an inch across with the same patterns as the stone you posted. I'm curious if anyone else has a better idea out there. I'd place the hardness at around a 6.5 after cutting a cab out of it.
