Here’s a shoe horn and a bunch of hooks. The shoe horn was fun but it took a while.

I bet that shoe horn was difficult, but it looks like you did a great job. Nicely cupped. And those feather hooks look great . I thought you just started at this ? Looking good

Thanks Tela. I’m improving in little ways. There are fewer rookie mistakes. It’s pretty fun too. The cool part is I’m making stuff I actually use. The shoe horn is being used every day.

Thanks Patty. I’m having fun with it. I learned a lot watching the “Black Bear Forge” channel on YouTube. No burns so far but I’ve had a smoking glove a few times.

Brent, those are so freaking awesome!! Those look great!! Thanks Jason. I’ve been trying to balance in some rock work along with forging and yard cleanup. Seems like the days are too short.

Yes they are!! I just started a thread about me starting a new job on Monday...so now they're even shorter for me! Well...the "work day" is long...but the fun time is a lot shorter! LOL

Man, I could read about other people's hobbies forever. Blacksmithing is seriously badass and I love that you found something fun to spend energy on. Those feather hooks are awesome!! Have you got any thoughts on combining it with lapidary in some way? Closest I've made it to metalwork is melting aluminum in a small foundry; carpal tunnel and grip strength make me fear swinging around a hammer (though probably scares my husband more, shhh). jasoninsd congrats on the new job! Whatcha doing now?

I’m getting a little better at S hooks. My arm was getting tired trying to get the photo framed. I should have put the heavy string closer to my hand. These babies are strong.

Those are beautiful! I love the little swirls at the end of the S-hooks. Reminds of the little flourish of piped icing.

Let us know if you start selling. I’m particularly interested in the shoe horn. I know you said it took you a while. We actually just gifted one to an older friend after watching him struggle to get his shoes on. It was like the best gift he’d ever gotten. But… it’s a CCPOS so probably won’t last through very many little balance falters.

The last batch has all been put to use around our house. Will do Khara. The plan is to build a little inventory so there are some choices. Nothing ever turns out exactly the same. I started a new shoehorn today. I’ll post pictures when it’s done. They’re strong enough you can lean/push on them pretty hard. The one I use helps my balance when standing.

I had a pretty good weekend at the forge. I upped my game on s-hooks a little.
