Stoner - Looks like a regular table saw with an oversize blade in a plexi housing for water collection. And a homemade lap next to it. Am I close?

Yeah, you're right Cher, keep on playing. As long as there is a path to get to my rocks and equipment, why bother. Zot and Rich-That is my home made 10" saw and 8" lap. The saw is made out of 1/2" plexi on a plywood base. I got the arbor for 50% off and I already had the motor and plexi, so the saw cost me next to nothing.
Well, gotta go cut some more rocks.

Hey John. Actually I just added an 80grit and a 6"Nova wheel, and I still have plenty of room. I should have gotten a shot of the sign some friends made for me a long time ago. It says "NEW HIPPIE WORKSHOP".

lol well i'm feeling a bit better stoner. i have little pig trails between rock piles leading to the door. my buddy from idaho stopped by yesterday. he's a cook and i think he wanted to cook in my kitchen. i think he changed his mind lol. he kept looking around and i could see the wheels turning in his mind that he had nowhere to create his meal. i patted his back and told him we were thinking of vending machines.

Glad I could help Kim. I really like that vending machine idea. Has your husband accepted it yet?

In my defense- I must say- I spend 2DAYS cleaning up my workspace!!!!! It all started when I needed to move the cabnit- But not to worry- I took my pixs on Monday- And it is already starting to get back to it's usual self!- Ed nice workshop- But man how can you find anything (there did that sound like your wife?) Hey can you give me a rundown of your wheel selections on your cabbing unit- oh and what size motor is it running (I'm itching to get an arbor extension for mine and set up a complete station)

Stephan-just giving you a hard time. I really do need to clean my shop up-a little bit. It's funny, but with stuff all over the place and being that I've been working on this mess for 20 years, I know exactly where everything is in my garage. I told my wife when we moved here, your area is right outside the kitchen door to the right-the washer and dryer-the rest is my space.
The wheels I have on my grinder are: 80(brand new this week), 100, 220 all hard diamond wheels, then 280, and I think 600 Nova wheels, then an expandable wheel for which I use a 600, 1200, 3000 diamond belt and 9micron 3M Imperial Micro Finishing Film Sanding Belts, available at Rio Grande for $13.15 for a pack of 5.
I know you use silicon carbide belts and they are in expensive, but if you can swing it, I suggest you switch over to diamond belts. The difference is night and day. I'm using the same 600 belt now that I was a year ago and it still has a lot of life left. In a year's time, I would have gone thru at least 20-30 belts of silicon carbide, and the diamond belts work a lot quicker.
Oh, and the motor is a 1/3hp Westinghouse motor.
Go for it my friend, having a complete setup makes it a lot easier to make cabs.

I am tempted- I have talked to the wife about it- she just gives me that look (you know the one) I keep trying to justify the expense- But I'm really not doing enough grinding right now to swing it- I am gonna get a 3000 diamond belt real soon just to try it out- Thanks for the info
