I decided to try stabilizing some slabs today. I'm using Patty's liveoak down and dirty method that she used on her beautiful peanut obsidian cab. I thought aluminum foil would work good for some molds and I laid a piece of parchment in the bottom for easier removal. Cleaned and heated everything, warmed the art resin epoxy. Mixed and added acetone. Poured the mixture over the slabs. Everything looked great. When I checked on the first time there was foam all over. I was able to trim most of it away as it was still kind of rubbery. I think the coating did its job. I have to let everything set up and grind to be sure. I imagine I'll have to do another treatment after I preform and get these little closer to their finish size. Anybody have any idea where I'm foaming? Is there an issue with aluminum foil and art resin? I appreciate any input

I think rockbrain, the foaming issue is likely from overheating the epoxy resin.
rather I warmed the stones & mixed the epoxy until it got warm from it's own reaction.
Then I mixed in the acetone & poured it on the stone & let everything cool down.
I also only gently warmed the stone (not too hot) on a warming tray OR a toaster oven on LOW (150 degrees).
I think your problem was you got everything a little too hot. Did you shut off all the heat after you poured the epoxy ?
Letting it cool naturally, after you pour, is actually what draws the epoxy into the pores of the stone.
Patty
OTOH,maybe you wanted some dino bone for dinner (that's what it looks like wrapped in the foil)

Art Resin is known to be quite foamy.

The “ foam” Is from the Acetone. Ii dont think the resin is meant to be thinned Out. Or should i say? Everytime i tried it got real foamy There thats better
