Got “bit” by a rock on the saw. 🤦🏻♀️ this is it right after this is a day later (today) I can TOTALLY empathize! Last summer I got "bit" by a rock on the saw as well! I bet that hurts like all get out...but it could have been a LOT worse (trust me!)! I actually use a "cut resistant" glove on my right hand now when I'm holding a rock and cutting it. I'm not sure HOW resistant it is...but it makes my wife feel better that I wear it! LOL

jasoninsdOh how could we forget oh frankenfinger!! How is that feeling by the way? Did the feeling return? It hurts a bit especially when I hit it on something, but there is a part of it that kinda feels numb.

Where the cut happened, it's super sensitive...it feels like needles if it gets touched...but the entire top end of the finger has no feeling at all. I'm pretty sure all the nerves got severed and it's the nerve "endings" that are feeling the needle-like pain...but no nerves are going to the end of the finger anymore. You know...I did that as an example of what NOT to do when cutting...and you weren't paying attention! LOL (Teasing! )

jasoninsdThat’s crazy! Have you ground it do on the cab machine not paying attention and not feeling it? Lol, you know how it goes, we all have to learn the hard way!😅 I might wear gloves but I honestly hate wearing them I like to be bare handed because it makes me fell like I have more control and it is less cumbersome.

I have! I was grinding the edges of a preform, looked at it, and blood was running down the end of my finger. I never felt it on the wheel! So, now I have to be extremely careful to know where my finger is...well...as "cognizant" as I can be about it! LOL

That's the kind of thing that happens when I'm committed. I showed my wife what happened and she said I should be committed...but I don't think we were using the word "committed" in the same way! LOL

That looks pretty painful ashley. Having a gouge like that right on the tip of your finger hurts like hell if you forget it's there and you put pressure on it. Sometimes just the scab when in forms in the deep part hurts like hell. BE CAREFUL! Sometimes we all forget that the equipment we use can be dangerous if you are distracted or not taking the care you need to.

ashley jasoninsd What kind of saws were you using when you got bit? Trim saw I usually hand hold but I do have a clamp on a guide I could use if I’m trying to slab rather than trim. And then our big drop saw we are still refurbishing has a clamp.

Jason was on a tile saw and I was using a 8” trim saw. Were you trimming or cutting a slab? I was cutting a slab. Which probably was my issue. I was trying to get a cut started and “lay a track” for the saw and it kicked on me.

I have always been leery of cutting rocks freehand without a clamp. Will probably stay that way. Hope your finger is doing better.
