Well done with the presentation, so congratulations. I enjoyed reading your badger story again, and I didn't even need coffee or beer. When you first posted your story on RTH, I don't know if we spoke about it or not, so I'll mention them here: Dry bag for your phone, and Google Maps works offline. Good luck with the store.

Thinking I was crazy as the link didn't work on my phone this morning.... Nice setup and cool to see them all lined up. I think the story helps seal the deal and probably sell you a few cabs by itself

hummingbirdstones You think logo for copyright is necessary even on individual one of a kind items? I was thinking a logo was needed for a mass produced item that someone else may have and want to sell and might steal your picture for but for one of a kind, what would the photos be stolen for?

Jason, I see you are up to 96 items now. I think that’s more than when I first looked. Also, I see the categories or “sections” you’ve made. Looks good. 👍👍I’ll be interested to hear all the new things you are learning, what kind of stats you can get from the platform, etc.

Man, you have been busy! Shop looks great. Next trip down the river, make sure you get a waterproof phone case. Otherwise, it seems like you did everything right. LOL.

Wow, Jason, your shop looks great. 👍👍 I can tell you’ve put a lot of time into it, and that’s in addition to all of your time cabbing and wrapping. It’s cool you really loaded up your shop with a lot of inventory upon opening, as opposed to opening with just one or two listings. It looks like a nice and full and active shop, lots to browse. Just fyi, a lot of these selling sites use square thumbnail views for the main page listing photos. Changing your phone camera to square format can help the item show fully on the main page. It’s an option but your shop looks great as is and when each listing is opened, the photos can be viewed fully in their original ratio. Good luck with your upcoming first online sale. You will soon be one of the experts on this! Thank you!! Good to know on the "square" for thumbnail! - I highly doubt the word "expert" will ever be used in the same sentence describing me! LOL Congratulations, Jason! The shop looks fantastic. I got a good chuckle out of the name and enjoyed the memory of reading through your memorable float down the river. A perfect tribute to that memory. Thanks Brian! Yeah...there was never any doubt that was going to be in the "About Me" section. I figure if people read it...awesome...if not...no biggie! LOL Well, Jason- you finally did it! Yay! Your shop looks great now, but it will only look better. Now that you are over the awful listing stage you can have fun tweaking.
Good luck, my friend. Thank you Tela! Yeah...the tweaking...I might take a little time to get that done! LOL Well...it sure took me long enough! I did everything I could to delay and delay and delay! However, my Etsy Shop is finally "open"...kinda! LOL I owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to quite a few members here on the forum...for their advice...their patience...their support...and their friendship. Without the support of this amazing community, I would have never taken the plunge! I have a lot of my completed wraps listed...well...the ones that haven't already sold at the shows I've done. I've been doing a lot of cabbing lately...but I'm going to switch gears over to wrapping again...so I'm hoping to get more "reasonable" wraps listed, rather than a lot of high-dollar Fairburn and Teepee Canyon Agates. Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know I finally bit the bullet and got the "headache" started! LOL Here's a link...and it's now in my signature. As always, thanks if you take a gander! www.etsy.com/shop/MadBadgerLapidaryThis is awesome! Congratulations! Very excited for your new journey. Love the name of your shop!! Congrats Jason, the shop looks great. Love the name. I think it's great that you included that story! Thanks Peta! Soon after the "incident", I was talking with a friend of mine on the forum, and the name kind of jokingly came up...I knew I had to use it if/when I ever opened an online store. LOL Congrats Jasonid on opening a shop that should provide good sales with quality products. The story behind the name was also very enjoyable and I wish I could have been there with you. You didn't say how many fairburs you found. Thanks Victor! I wish someone would have been there as well...they could have authenticated what sounds like a big fish story...but I swear it was all true! LOL Fairburns? Not a damn one...so that made that trip even more "unsuccessful"! LOL Congratulations, my friend! Your pictures look fabulous. I don't know how you could improve them. I really like whatever it is you used as the background for your wraps (carpet, fabric?). Shows off the wraps well and doesn't reflect back at you. Very nice. I wish you total success with your shop! I noticed there was already one wrap in someone's cart. ETA: You need to watermark all of your pictures with Mad Badger Lapidary to copyright them. Thanks Robin! I had thought about the watermark...about halfway through all the listings! LOL - It's a good idea. Thanks for pointing that out. I already had a family member call me last night and tell me I should retake all the pictures as they weren't good enough... I used a piece of craft felt for the backdrop...picked it up at Michaels. It's about the size of a piece of paper. I know not to get excited about anything being in anyone's cart...I do that to "save" items from other people's shops! (Probably drives them crazy!) Finished reading the mad badger story. Stay safe! You still have thousands of Fairburn to find, before the mad badgers get them or you... Thanks PS! It was definitely a LONG story...but I put a warning at the beginning! LOL Well done with the presentation, so congratulations. I enjoyed reading your badger story again, and I didn't even need coffee or beer. When you first posted your story on RTH, I don't know if we spoke about it or not, so I'll mention them here: Dry bag for your phone, and Google Maps works offline. Good luck with the store. Thanks Dave! Yeah...I did have waterproof bags with me...but didn't have my phone in one of them at the time of the dunking! LOL We did talk about Google maps...definitely not something I knew about at the time! LOL Thinking I was crazy as the link didn't work on my phone this morning.... Nice setup and cool to see them all lined up. I think the story helps seal the deal and probably sell you a few cabs by itself Thanks Chad! I'm hoping for the "sympathy" sales by adding that story! LOL Jason, I see you are up to 96 items now. I think that’s more than when I first looked. Also, I see the categories or “sections” you’ve made. Looks good. 👍👍I’ll be interested to hear all the new things you are learning, what kind of stats you can get from the platform, etc. Thanks again! When I first started listing, I didn't know I was limited to only 20 sections...so I was listing each wrap by the material. Once I got to the 21st material, I couldn't add any more. Once I figured out what was going on, I had to go back and edit all the listings and figure out what kind of sections to actually put in there! LOL jasoninsd That is super awesome Jason!!!! I’m so excited for you!! 😃 Thanks Ashley! I'm a little excited to see where, if anywhere, it goes!

Absolutely. On every single photo. People snag them and use them as their own all the time. They've been doing it for years and years.

Very impressive! Thanks Gary! I'm kind of looking forward to getting back to wrapping. I haven't really done it on a "major" scale for quite awhile...

I've had that happen to me when trying to click a link to Etsy through the forum. Sometimes when I click on a link, it will take me to the Etsy homepage...so I click on the link a second time, and it brings up the correct link. I think it might be a Proboards hiccup...

Congratulations Jason. The shop looks great! "Mad Badger".. love it! Thank you So much! I could've gone with "Pissed Off Porcupine"...since I've encountered them out there as well...but opted for the "angrier" of the two animals! LOL

Nice shop and great photos. I like Etsy because it is easy to use and has a lot of visibility. I haven't had to deal with the Etsy issues. The biggest issue is customers finding your shop. My approach was to have less common materials. When someone is looking for a tiger eye pendant, there are so many search results, finding your shop is unlikely. Searching for a Prairie agate pendant has fewer results and once your shop is found customers will look at your other items. Your items are more expensive than mine so shipping cost is less relevant. I sent out my first orders priority mail, but unless it is a very large order I ship first class with is usually less than $4 and all my listings have free shipping and I build that into the price.
