One of things I like about lapidary is finding material and then deciding if I made a good investment or not. Buying from pictures is tough and buying rough from pictures is tougher. This order arrived today. 1.0 X #10 Biggs Road Cut Rough 1#9oz $24.00 1.0 X #65 Mexican Flame Agate Rough 1#2oz $34.00 1.0 X #59 Blue Mountain Jasper Rough 14 oz $30.00 Subtotal $88.00 USD Shipping $16.00 USD Invoice Total $104.00 USD

I like all three, I don’t know about the investment part but am always amazed by what nature creates.

That's some really pretty material you have there and it will be interesting to see what kind of return you get from it. I've been speculating on rocks the last several years also and really don't know how I'll do. Here's a 160 pound piece of tiger eye I recently acquired. It killed my rock budget for a while.

RWA3006 How much does a big ass piece of tiger eye like that go for? It’s beautiful and so are the others. It’s only money…

RWA3006 How much does a big ass piece of tiger eye like that go for? It’s beautiful and so are the others. It’s only money… It varies of course, according to size, quality, availability and time of purchase. I got it for $10/lb. Message me if you want some and I can forward my source to you. There might be some left.

That is an investment! I hope you can make a good profit. That kind of outlay would surely kill my rock budget for a while!

That is an investment! I hope you can make a good profit. That kind of outlay would surely kill my rock budget for a while! I'll probably lose my shirt on it because I'm tempted to keep it for myself after I grind and polish the top and sides, then place a juniper stump under it to make it into a table. That's the problem with rocks, I can't part with them because I love to surround myself with their beauty. stardiamond sorry for the thread hijack, you just reminded me why I can't thrive in this market.

I bought a small piece of Blue Mountain and the shipping represented 40% of the item cost so I looked for something from the same seller. They had a 1 pound piece of Tiffany Stone faced on 5 sides. I went to Etsy to see what cabs were being listed for. The price was $40 for the piece and I thought it was a good value.

I bought a 2 pound piece of OJ for $114 delivered. The listing pictures were good but rough is always a gamble. I cut the first slab and it isn't a good collector's slab but pretty good as cabbing material. This is the first slice. Druze pockets and some poppies. [img style="max-width:100%;"
