Thanks everyone. Psilomelane is messy, turns your hands and anything else the water gets on black, but it rinses off fairly easy. I'm mostly proud of you that you didn't drop it and break it on the way to get pics! LOL *I've come back to look at that piece several times...you nailed it Nate!! He did drop it It just so happened to have landed on his shoe, bounced off and onto the matt we have. Lucky

An absolutely beautiful cab. Cool shape, amazing material, stellar pattern capture and shine. I don't think I would consider it a solid color, but hey, I'm only one judge.

What what!! That coffin cab is stunning - the material is very flattering to the shape - love it! Great job!

This is a piece of slag glass from the San Manuel (Arizona) Copper Smelter. Cab is 22 x 40. the slab the cab side view Magma Copper started their mining operation here in the late 1940's. The first home in the townsite was completed in 1954. The Smelter was commissioned in 1956. Mining ceased in 1999. By 2003 the smelter was torn down except for the stacks which were demolished in 2007.

taylor. I love this. Thanks for including the history of the material. One photos shows the top as smooth. the other looks like some of the ridges are there. Which is the more accurate photo? I like the ridges.

That is pretty fantastic, taking the photo to reflect the paneling really shows the mirror polish and that it's domed perfectly.

Happy to share fernwood. We got the material from an estate and didn't pay much attention to a little orange piece of glass. It is much more interesting once you know its source. As Rockoonz observed the "ridges" are reflections from the background. Pure luck on the pictures as I am at the mercy of the auto-magic settings on the camera and the big light in the sky. Thank you Rockoonz.

rockbrain Oh wow, that one turned out great!👍 How’d your sodalite turn out? It’s possible there’s another lemon chrysoprase on the way… 🧐🤓

Thanks khara and thanks for the ID. I wasn't sure what the blue one was. I liked it better than the chrysoprase but once it was done I thought it had too much color variation. I was really limited for material on this one. I have a couple chunks of the chrysoprase but this was my first time working it. I was kind of surprised how well it polished.
