I’m building a tri-level tumbler out of 3/4” plywood covering a frame of 2x4s. Drummond Island Rocks was the inspiration. I don’t even have it together yet, but I’m thinking about sound insulation. I have a bunch of off-brand Dynamat laying around I’m thinking of lining the walls. Has anyone tried Dynamat to quiet a rock tumbler cabinet?

Great question! Tagging Wooferhound ...he might know about it. Guess not! haha, No big deal. I'm about to finish up my tumbler cabinet project, so we'll see if it's even necessary. It's super-solid. I vastly underestimated the weight of the fully-assembled unit. I'll post some pics once it's finished.

Eventually he might chime in...but by then, you may have it done already... Sounds like it turned out to be a beast! I look forward to the pics!

I have some of the same stuff lying around for when I finally get around to building a cabinet for my tumblers. I did have to replace our dishwasher a few months ago and decided to line the cabinet with a few pieces of the sound deadening material and it did make a substantial difference in the noise. Since the dishwasher makes similar noises (frequency and volume) to the tumblers, I would expect it to offer the same level of improvement for the tumbler cabinet. It is certainly not going to hurt!
