Vegasjames, some of your material has fantastic color mixes.Do you think most of it is solid and without fractures?

Cool finds James! A couple of those pieces look like Lavic Jasper... Our club did make a quick run to Lavic for about an hour. I will try to put together a bit of trip report later.
Still unloading the truck, cleaning the material and photographing, so more to come.

Vegasjames, some of your material has fantastic color mixes.Do you think most of it is solid and without fractures? Yes, most of what I got was pretty solid without any fractures, and the stuff that did have fractures were few and shallow. The only piece that was apparently deeply fractured was the moss agate with green chalcedony in the 5th picture down. This stuff is super hard to find, I have only found in maybe 5 times out there. So, I was pretty excited when I found this. Just the tip with the green and a little of the moss agate. I started to dig it out and it got bigger and bigger. I got about 50% of it uncovered when I tried to pry it out with the large pick. That is when it broke in to several pieces. Couple still large pieces though as the whole thing turned out to weigh 70 pounds. I will find and post my pics of this type of material slabbed in a minute.
The wood jasper tends to be unfractured, but it also tends to have a lot of pits. Therefore, I try to look for pieces that show color coming through and that have no to minimal pits. I post a pic of a slab of that in a minute as well.

This is some of the green chalcedony with moss agate I cut in the past. And a slab of wood jasper.

Great stuff vegasjames . I love going to Lavic. Were you on the north side of the 40, or south side? I've only pretty much done the south side near the railroad tracks and pretty much looked for tumbling rough and small cutters. I've never come away with stuff that large. I've never seen coloration like you have in #4. That's pretty awesome.

Great stuff vegasjames . I love going to Lavic Junction. Were you on the north side of the 40, or south side? I've only pretty much done the south side near the railroad tracks and pretty much looked for tumbling rough and small cutters. I've never come away with stuff that large. I've never seen coloration like you have in #4. That's pretty awesome. We went to the South side. We went to two spots, but they were not that great. I have been there a couple times in the past and the locations we went to were much better with super abundant, larger and very colorful material. I don't recall though exactly where we were each time though. Still found some interesting stuff.
Will be posting more pics soon.

Those are all awesome! Looks like you had a good time! Yes, it was fun other than being hot. Was supposed to go the week before when it was cooler, but our club pushed the trip back by a week. I went down the day before and caught up with my friend from California. We explored some new areas and hit a few places I had found previously.
Then Jax, my little fur baby, and I headed down to the I-40 and camped the night at the rest stop, then met with the club over at Ludlow in the morning.

My gosh vegasjames, you hit the motherlode there. Good on you for that. You're making me want to go out there, if nothing more than to spend the time there. Absolutely amazing finds.
