Would this be considered Onyx? I was considering Wonderstone but I don't think that is close at all.... Cut side wet Dry outer edge

Banded calcite. Often mislabeled as onyx, but they are totally unrelated stones. Calcite is calcium carbonate and comes in different colors. Onyx is a black and white or pure black chalcedony (cryptocrystalline to microcrystalline quartz, silicon dioxide). Here are examples of actual onyx, which is very rare, from Nevada.

Sardonyx Parallel Chalcedony Sardonyx is brown to reddish brown chalcedony (sard) with banding. If more reddish or orangish it would be called carnelian instead.

I've seen this stuff called "Rainbow Calcite"...but I think actual Rainbow Calcite is more colorful...so I have to agree with "Banded Calcite" as well...
