I still don't see any links to a parts list, but just my 2¢ on my personal cabinet-style build I completed a little over a week ago:
- It is not an easy build. It required extremely detailed drawings and plans to make sure everything was assembled correctly, down to fractions of an inch, and I STILL had to make unforeseen adjustments.
- I absolutely learned as I went along. I'm no expert.
- Just acquiring all the parts over a few months was a chore in itself. After a couple hiccups with eBay, I entered into buyers-remorse stage until everything was finally sorted out after weeks of trouble.
- There always seemed to be one more thing to buy.
- There is a lot of research that needs to be done just to learn about everything you need to buy if you are a novice like me. Steel bar, pillow blocks, grease, rotation speed, etc.
- Everything is far more expensive than I planned for it to be.
- Be prepared for failure or a backup plan. There were so many curve balls thrown at me, I could be a designated hitter for the White Sox at this point.
- The outer cabinet easily doubled the price for me (excluding the barrels I bought), BUT it made it SO much quieter. I made the cabinet to keep our pets safe so they didn't get caught in any of the spinning mechanisms.
- I did not plan for wood pre-stain, stain, foam brushes, magnetic door closures, hinges with hardware, rubber grommets, wrong belt lengths, rubber casters, etc. These costs hit me by surprise.
- After a week of use, I still need to soundproof a few things, so I'm sure more money will be involved.
- After all the hardships, in the end, it has been worth it. I had to set my sights on the greater picture and stop trying to just save money by building my own. (had I not built the cabinet, It WOULD have been cheaper)
