I guess that depends on your interests. Tumblers only care about that part, but RTH has become so much more. Are you Equipment, Material, Person, or Process oriented? Do you check the NEW PARTICIPATED button? Have you noticed the PORTAL Page? Do you welcome new members and share what you know? do you try to help RTH Grow? On the HOME PAGE Do you scroll the left or right side, or both to see new posts? Do you click on the New Topics and New Posts and scroll up and down? Do you have favorite members, check their profile to see if they have entered anything new? Do you click on the like button to let people know you appreciate their efforts? Perhaps it is time to move into a new part of the hobby, like cabbing, wire wrapping, or faceting? Do you feel at home here? How do you RTH? Can you MULTITASK? I can procrastinate, waste time, and be unproductive all at the same time!

I mostly go to Portal Page and scroll down to center left area of new or recent posts. This is 95% how I check in. If I’m looking for general info on a certain topic I’ll go to the home page and down to the most appropriate topic, like wire wrapping or such. If I have a very specific question I will use the search bar on the home page and search a keyword or phrase. And then if I remember a post and want to see if there’s been any activity on it that I might’ve missed, I’ll try and remember who started the thread and go to their recent posts or threads to try and find it again. It seems if gone for any length of time it is easy to miss an update because the recent topics fall out the bottom of the list.

I normally scroll through the main page on my phone. See what’s new in each thread and look. Realistically though, there are probably only a handful of channels that I look at or participate in.

I almost always look through Recent Topics to check what has come up since the last time I looked. Then pick out topics I am interested in.

My normal routine is to hit the "Recent Topics" button at the top of the screen. Then I'll peruse through the threads that have been updated since I was on last. I'll usually check out every single thread...and generally stick my nose into some places it probably doesn't belong...like I have done in "real life" most of my life! LOL

Thanks khara for showing me the Portal Page- never knew about that one. I tend to look at the what's new by hovering over the "Rock Tumbling Hobby" on the top left. I also look at the "Participated" button to see threads I might have been specifically following. I try to remember to welcome new members, as that's one thing I appreciated when I joined, that people welcomed me. Patty

Well, I usually scroll down looking at the right side for new post. Now that I know about the recent buttons at the top that might change! Now if I could only remember to come here to click on the link when I'm making an Amazon order.

Now if I could only remember to come here to click on the link when I'm making an Amazon order. What I did was used the link to go to Amazon - then bookmarked that page.
So as long as you go to Amazon with that bookmark, it should be the same (I think).

I tend to scan the "Recent Forum Discussion Threads" section for interesting posts and check to see if anything is new on the "Participated" button (both on the Portal Page). I also like to visit the "Silly Stuff" thread for a laugh once in a while. I love it when people post photos (rough, tumbles, cabochons, etc). I don't always post/reply, but I try to give a 'like'/thumbs-up.
I like to tumble rocks, photograph rocks, collect/polish slabs, and.... apparently.... hoard rocks like a dragon.

You can't imagine how important it is to know someone else cares about you.

You can't imagine how important it is to know someone else cares about you. I read this (it is a GREAT post!) and all of a sudden Barney's song "I love you...you love me" started going off in my head!

You can't imagine how important it is to know someone else cares about you. Thats why I like this forum. Lots of genuine, good hearted people.
