I bought a parcel of Tahoma rough. Most of it is too thin to slab across the seam. Cutting with the seam, requires thick bands of material otherwise the slabs are not nice. I picked the pieces with the most promise and glued them to boards on Sunday. Today, I found out what is there. ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/3b/3e/egmrG3wv_o.jpg)

I started with the biggest piece. My plan was to remove as little material as possible, so only faced the highest part. ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/3f/31/THXBwk9U_o.jpg) Next largest piece. ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/63/9f/RzFBIiR4_o.jpg) Next. ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/5b/c7/dKu4K2xP_o.jpg) Last piece. On the other pieces I tried to make a precise cut. I had no clear information, so went for the middle. ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/95/04/WzZQ7ljD_o.jpg) I applied my fracture detecting algorithm. ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/b4/ac/R0CUSgFe_o.jpg) and ended up with this: ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/d8/89/ZDFZYPL8_o.jpg) The rest of the work will be done with the trim saw and that is another day.

This only step 1. Step 2 is trimming and step 3 is the preforms. I know this isn't Sutter's Mill, but there is more here to be discovered.
Jason, given a large slab with a lot of visible fractures, I like to slam the slab into my worktable. No decision making about partially healed and invisible fractures. Slabs don't fracture in a straight line.
