Hello! I look for rocks to polish in the old abandoned train track ballast behind my work at lunch. It gets me outside and there’s a jackrabbit I see most days that makes me happy. Sometimes I find interesting things, like chunks of jasper and stuff like that. I found this particular rock out there and tumbled it a while ago. I think it’s interesting, maybe it’s some sort if agate or something? The real reason I’m posting this picture though is that this forum ruined this rock for me (in the best way). I used to be happy when a batch of rocks took a shine and that was about it. Now I look at those first batches and see all the things I should have done differently. Usually that’s more time at stage 1, though sometimes I wonder why I tried polishing a rock at all! This rock definitely could have used more time in stage 1, and maybe I’ll re-tumble it sometime and post a follow-up picture. Anyways, I appreciate the talent I see every day on this forum, and like to think I’m becoming a better rock hound and tumbler because of all of you. Take Care, Justin

I’m not a tumbler, but I would say that is a keeper!

That is a cool rock! Wondering if it’s quartzite.

It looks familiar, like I saw a similar one on here lately…do you have a pic before you tumbled it? Was it rough, with slightly course grains that you could see or smooth like chert and Jasper? I get the looking at early rocks I did and thinking ‘ugh, it needs help’, and I’ve redone some rocks. The rest just went into display jars, where the imperfections aren’t noticeable. I have too many other rocks to work lol.

Beautiful Rock Justin I lurked at your profile and I am going to do a bad thing an assume. I assume Sonoma County is in Cali. If you were in South Dakota I would wonder if you went out rock hunting with fellow RTH family member Jason ie. jasoninsd and say it is a prairie agate but all I can say about it is it is Beautiful. Great job.

And I'm not unhappy with it now, I think it's a pretty rock, I'm just noticing the chips and cracks more these days!

That is a cool rock! Wondering if it’s quartzite. Thanks! I don't know what it is... I looked to see if I had a picture of it before tumbling, but I couldn't find anything... I would be happy to call it quartzite though!

That’s a really pretty stone! Don’t know what it is, but it’s sure purty.
