In the 4th edition of AZ Gem Trails it shows a pic of some nice agate from Lyman Lake AZ. It does not have a location described for it. Neither do the books for AZ in the porcelain library. Has anyone heard of a location at Lyman Lake? It is south of St Johns, which is now enclosed by power company land.

Screen shot a pic and post it. Might give others a good idea. Especially if it goes by another name

If I had to take a shot in the dark, I would say it doesn't have an exact deposit, but can probably be found walking around the area. Prineville reservoir is a great example of this. When the water got low, I walked some gravel bars and found all kinds of various different agates.
I used google earth, found the lake. I could tell you exactly where I would start looking if I was to go out there.

Well, at least it is somewhere. I’ll try to screenshot a pic on google earth, then mark location where I would look. I’ve been doing this with fairy high accuracy all things considered. If you find anything good in the spots I recommend, you gotta send me some 😂😂😂 jk

That is a pretty common agate to find in western NM, around the Apache Creek area.

The old Western Gem Hunters Atlas show rock sites around the lake, 1. on SW quadrat of lake; 2 N and W of lake on W side of Rt 180; both of those are listed as pet wood;. Additional sites in the vicinity mention agate (2 mi E of St. Johns and a bit south on a secondary road and again another 5 miles E and south for another pet wood local. It shows a large moss agate zone SW of St. Johns that extends half way toward Lyman Res. These sites are illustrated on pages 40 and 23 respectively for the 1965 and 1972 printings of this great guide. I like general guidance but not so much specifics that any dead butt can find the sites. Enjoy.
