well ... not Reno itself .. more like from Sparks, NV to Winnemucca along Route 80 ...
Will be going to see the Annular Eclipse next month and staying in Sparks and commuting to Winnemucca soooooooo
there should be time to do some rockhunting IF there are washes, parks etc readily available without hiking or rock "tools" needed
am still in the free river rocks stage of collecting and tumbling so nothing fancy .. just easy to get at and collect.
Any info would be appreciated !

The hills behind the high school off of Virginia Street has some common opal. Did not find much up the canyon I tried though. There is the copper ore deposit just North of Reno that is very popular. Gasoline Road out by Fernley is very popular as is up about 10 miles on Racetrack Road in Fernley. Both are known for their chalcedony. Mt Airy is very popular for its blue chalcedony/agate.
