I measure the barrel RPMs on my tumblers after I buy them. I thought I would share the information I have, in case someone finds it useful.
Hopefully others will add to this thread. It might be useful to add a note if the reading was on a new or well used tumbler.
The following values are all under load (barrels filled with rock, water, grit, etc).
Lortone 3A Tumbler (new) 63 rpm
Lortone 3A Tumbler (after a year or two) 58 rpm
Highland Park 3lb Tumbler (new) 38 rpm
Lortone 45C Tumbler (new) 41 rpm
Lortone QT12 Tumbler (new) 34 rpm
Lortone QT12 Tumbler (after a year or so) 33 rpm
National Geographic Pro 3lb Tumbler Speed 1 = 86 rpm Speed 2 = 108 rpm Speed 3 = 123 rpm

All 3 lb barrels, Thumler's, at age 3 Model Ts - fast, 50 - 55 rpm - for coarse grind 60/90 Model AR-2 - slower, 32 rpm - for anything else

Chicago Electric dual drum #1 (2.5 months old): 46 rpm CE dual drum #2 (2 months): 49 rpm Rebel 17 hi-speed version (1 month): 39 rpm Lortone QT66 or equivalent (bought used): 28 rpm Nat Geo Hobby (1.5 months) @ 4.5 volts: 41 rpm Nat Geo Hobby @ 12 volts: 108 rpm
