Anyone experienced with this? I have some really nice pieces but I seem to have some pitting with a fair amount of them as they tumble? Any advice to minimize this or is this to be expected? Is this normal?

Is this normal? Pitting isn't something which can or can't be avoided...it's either a part of the rock, or it isn't.

I have done Rio's in the past and yes this happens with some. It is mostly unavoidable. IF the pits/flaws are from undercutting of softer material then finer grits, 80 as opposed to say 60/90, SOMETIMES will minimize but not cure.

I did a couple. They are the pits lol. I tried working around them by cutting out the worst areas, but all in all they were pitted. Took forever in course (like almost a year on average!)

LOL You have my utmost respect for your fortitude and patience Stefan!
