Happy New Year to all. I finished the 4th cleanout this morning. I’m very happy with how they’re shaping up. First half stirred between photos. The smalls are looking as good as the big ones. Second half or a little less. Here are a few that caught my eye. Parallax shadows. The top rock has the best shadow I’ve ever seen. Replacement rocks. (Dry and wet). Here’s what’s moving on so far. New rocks received last week. the que for getting into the 12 pounder. Thanks for looking.

Been said already Brent, but that is a fine collection of stones there. The ones waiting their turn look phenomenal.

Happy New Year Brent to you and Isabelle! *Ummm...I'm noticing the monetary denomination is getting less as the thread goes on. Does that mean the tumbles will be done by the time you get to two pennies in the pics?? LOL

Some real beauties in there and some of the new ones look like there's some great potential. Nice batch of rocks!

Happy New Year Brent to you and Isabelle! *Ummm...I'm noticing the monetary denomination is getting less as the thread goes on. Does that mean the tumbles will be done by the time you get to two pennies in the pics?? LOL There’s a good reason for going back to $1. A lot of those rocks cost a dollar but some of them were quite a bit more. I think I’m about done with the acquisition phase. It’s going to be a long process to finish them. Ideally I’ll end up with a 12 pounder running polish. Some real beauties in there and some of the new ones look like there's some great potential. Nice batch of rocks! Thanks Gary. Lakers may end up replacing bots as my favorite agates. Outstanding and more crowd pleasers to go, too.

Very nice agates for sure. I have a small laker barrel going right now as well and it is on Step 2 already. They are on track to being finished in about a week or so and I will post pictures once they are finished.

What an eye feast! Also made me feel less guilty when I put some of the relatively expensive rocks into my tumbler.

What an eye feast! Also made me feel less guilty when I put some of the relatively expensive rocks into my tumbler. LOL. I’ve felt plenty guilty about even starting this batch. I’ve been tumbling for a while. Tumbler barrels are like a lot of things in life. You get out of them what you put into them. Those agates sure are turning out nice and colorful and the new batch looks like they will be even more beautiful. Thanks. The new ones will get rotated in slowly.

With the parallax rock are you planning on tumbling until those little fractures are completely gone? I always struggle with when to move a rock out of stage 1 and onto the other stages...

hplcmanThose cracks will be gone for sure. The shadow moves across that face. They are too ugly to leave. You can see the shadow in the photo, just on the edge of the reflection

Here are a few pictures from the fifth cleanout. I’m pretty happy with the shaping so far. This is the first half of the barrel, stirred between photos. Here is the second half of the barrel. These are the smalls. This is why it takes forever to clean out this batch. These rocks caught my eye. I haven’t named any of them yet. These are the rocks that are graduating to stage 2. Replacement rough Ready to roll again. This is the total ready for stage 2 after five weeks. That was one of the funnest cleanouts I’ve ever done. Thanks for looking.

Wow! This thread has been making want to take up tumbling. I've only polished flats in a Lot-O. You make it look so easy. Beautiful tumbles!

Wow! This thread has been making want to take up tumbling. I've only polished flats in a Lot-O. You make it look so easy. Beautiful tumbles! Thanks Tela. I hope you’re having as much fun as I am. Lake Superior Agates have always been a favorite of mine. A lot of them have attractive weathering on the exterior. They’re super old for agates so the weathering sometimes reflects the pattern underneath. It will be tricky to keep some of the Limonite. I bet a vibe tumbler would work well on some of these for that reason. Rocks look great ! Keep ‘em rolling ! Nice Morgan in this batch ! VF-XF ? LOL. It was MS-64 when I put it in there. Thanks. I’m trying to keep enough ahead to keep the barrel all LSAs. I think I’m done buying agates now. There’s one more package in the mail.
