Recently found this on my Reno trip. Looks to me like some kind of fossil. Does anyone know for sure if it is?

Hard to tell by photo, take it to your local University, the Geology department will ID it for you for free...

General shape reminds me of a broker piece of ammonite. Here in Texas the ones I have found are white limestone with more definitive ridges. That cross-section is definitely intriguing.
