We all age differently. I'm 78 and a lot of people my age are physically active. I'm not. I relate to the Black Knight in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail.' He has body parts lopped off and refuses to give up. I had a career in IT and what I value is mental acuity which has remained sharp. I keep very active doing brain stimulating activities like playing online Bridge and Poker. Lapidary keeps me very busy buying and selling communicating with buyers and sellers. Design and grinding are also mind stimulating.

Somehow I thought it would take Longer. I can't agree enough and I'm not even that old yet. In a couple of years I'll be at the age where many people retire and I've decided to work as long as I'm able because I think it helps my quality of life. I've been feeling traumatized in recent years because it's dawning on me that I'll never live long enough to do all the projects I've dreamed of. When my grandpa was 100 years old I asked him if time seems to move faster as he aged and he said yes, and logarithmically faster.

I worked until age 69 because my paid well and was easy. I was not going to fully enjoy my retirement for physical and financial and physical reasons. Delaying my retirement took care of the financial issues. I worked until I no longer enjoyed my job.

Somehow I thought it would take Longer. LOL, me too! For me the longest, most stressful time, was waiting to be 21 so I could be an "adult." I finally reached that point what seems like a few seconds ago. Now I'm pondering burial or cremation? Better not ponder too long or someone else will decide.

Life is what happens when you're busy making plans and then suddenly you're 40, 50, 60....
A friend of mine says that when you're young, you want to be older because you think older people have things figured out and that life will go according to your plans. Then you get to that point and you're like "Stupid kid."

I was born in 1936. When I was young, I was busy supporting a growing family, no time for fun stuff. Suddenly the family is at retirement age, and I am too old (87) and frail to hound where I want.

But, what an amazing, long life you've had and you still have all your gray matter perking. Love you, Dave.

You meet all sorts of people in your life, and in the last 10 years (I am 42) I have met the best ones. Being able to share the joys of our hobby is the best joy in life

Somehow I thought it would take Longer. Indeed, I feel much the same as you! Still want to find a few more pretty rocks too. Happy Thanksgiving!

Somehow I thought it would take Longer. In my youth it seemed to take forever to get to Christmas and now it seems it’s back before I get the decorations put up. As my 94 year old Aunt told me getting older is the pits but the alternative isn’t too great either. I enjoy coffee and cookies, my recliner, friends, rocks, photography, and painting in watercolor. I don’t let my mind wander to years gone by, past injustices, societal issues and politics. It is much more fun to watch the birds and squirrels in the back yard and watch videos on how to make jewelry. I have to do something with those cabs.

I retired when I was 55 from teaching and am now 82. I enjoy gardening, lapidary and until recently the ability to travel during the summer with our family. Age is now catching up with me so traveling is limited but lapidary and gardening are now my main interest.

I don't relish the thought of getting old but what I fear and despise is the thought that I could become an old fool like some unlucky people I've known. I'm terrified of that prospect because I've seen how awful it can be.
Now at age 64 I follow a routine that I hope will keep the demon away by working hard long hours and following a study routine. This way I exercise my body and mind with rigorous activity that I hope will pay off. Of course, genetics and luck will influence my future, but I do what I can to help my chances. Once in a while I take time off to play which is greatly refreshing.
