Hi all - I thought I had posted some pics of my recent trip back to Australia, but seems I did not. In November my daughter and I traveled to Australia to visit my mum. She resides in Tasmania so we spent most of our time there. Below are some pictures of the time we had:
3 generations. My mum, me and my daughter
On our travels to Port Arthur we stopped in a small town called Richmond. Keira works at IGA so thought it fitting to snap a pic. IGA's are everywhere lol
Grave site at the Isle of the Dead in Port Arthur (sorry, these got a bit mixed around and out of order)
Natural Bridge
sideways view of Keira and I in Richmond - Old Hobart Town. Hobart is Tasmania's capital and where my brother was born.
Port Arthur - jail yard ruins. Port Arthur was one of the first penal colonies and likely where a lot of my distant family started their sentences. In 1996 a horrific incident took place here where 35 innocent souls lost their lives to a gun-weidling maniac which was the catalyst for Australia's high capacity weapons ban.
Larger view of the grounds at Port Arthur. At night we did a ghost tour which was fantastic.
View from the Isle of the Dead. A small island that housed thousands of deceased inmates. Most of whom do not have grave markers. The markers you see are likely guardsman/families, etc.
Devil! We went to Trowanna (second time) where you can see some of Australia's wildlife up close and personal. These guys are the cutest, but have a nasty bite!
Feeding time! We bought little bags of food not realizing it was feeding time so they were mostly interested in their trough, but got some to eat from our hands.
Meat Pie - my favorite Aussie fare. There's a bakery in GA (The Australian Bakery) where I can buy these for $100+ for a half dozen - man are they worth it, but nothing beats the OG pie from the OG makers
Scratch that itch! God I love these guys.
Wombat feeding time. Cutest buggers out there. Fat and sassy, just like me
Hopefully this video will play. Bell Bouy Beach - VERY windy, but did find some rocks that I brought home and tried to polish.
These are the rocks I brought back. Only a small handful, but they were so rounded and smooth already. I only put them through 60/90 for a couple of days then moved them along. The green in the back came out of my mums garden bed.
Anyways - thanks for looking.
