It’s that time of year again, where I torture and harass my fellow Americans with my love of cycling. The season actually started in Australia, January 16-24th, at The Tour Down Under. A British chap named Stephen Williams, took that one. The cool thing about this year is that Peacock will be carrying a lot of the major races this year. Which is great because it means I wont have to spend money to try to find the races on this pay channel or that pay channel or wherever the hell. But imagine my surprise this morning, (I was up early in a lot of nerve pain), when I turned on the movie channel, Max, and The UAE Tour is on! I did not think I would get to see that one this year, because I couldn’t find it, and why it’s on Max is beyond me but I’ll take it! I just finished catching up on yesterday’s stage one (which ended with 80% of the peloton crashing 100 meters from the line) and I am now glued to stage two. At least until I take the kid to school. Then it’s back to being glued for a few more hours. Oh happy happy me! Are there any other pro road cycling fans here, or will I be talking to myself as usual?

I never road raced, but did some triatholons and lots of cross country cycling when I was younger. Very nice! I raced BMX when younger then track bikes at the heller Park Velodrome and mountain bikes in northern California until my late 30s, when everything began to fell apart. I never raced road but I’ve watched and enjoyed the world pro road bike tour field since I was around 18 after I saw the movie Breaking Away and discovered the Giro de Italia and Tour de France. The Tour de France was the only Grand Tour showing in America for many years. Now There’s around 50 races I can catch and it’s great. This year‘s insane, there are four top riders in the world, all on top separate teams and it’s never been like this. Usually there’s one or two teams that carry all the weight. Now there’s four, it’s going to be insane at the 3 Grand tours.
