Here are a few photos of what came out of the three pounder today. I got to open it with my grandson. The towel shot Bots Swali, Swazi, Mozambique Alimajos. I learned a few things tumbling these. Slab chunks and glass cutter pieces. The very dark oval chunk looks cool backlit. This is one of the rocks my wife found when we were hounding the buttes with jasoninsdMy favorites thanks for looking.

Wow, they are so beautiful! The Alimajos look very nice. Mind sharing what you have learned from tumbling them?

Wow, they are so beautiful! The Alimajos look very nice. Mind sharing what you have learned from tumbling them? Thank you. I learned that Alimajos would be best hand picked rather than mail ordered. Some turned out excellent but many were duds. The nodules that were sawed up were kind of disappointing as well. There are still quite a few coming along in coarse. Maybe a few more will turn out nice. That’s a beautiful batch! That one looks amazing backlit like that! Thanks for sharing. Thanks. I was surprised when I held it up to the light. It’s the first slice of an unknown agate nodule.

Those look great! I think I like the Alimajos best. What did you mean by glass cutter pieces? Did you cut thin slabs with a glass cutter. I like the long skinny ones in that picture and am thinking I could do something similar for something I am working on. Thanks for sharing.

That's a great looking batch, near perfection! I would like to say, that's a nice prairie agate. Thanks for sharing.

I love the orby looking ones. Not sure what it is about orbs; I can't get enough.
Nice rocks!

Love the Bots. And the backlit one.👍 Thanks Khara. I think Bots are cool. They’re usually solid and almost always attractive. I sawed up a bunch of nodules last year. There are lots more coming along. Shiny goodness! Thanks Robin. The polish turned out better than average. I’ve been running a stage of powdered tripoli before polish. It seems to help the final product. Those look great! I think I like the Alimajos best. What did you mean by glass cutter pieces? Did you cut thin slabs with a glass cutter. I like the long skinny ones in that picture and am thinking I could do something similar for something I am working on. Thanks for sharing. Thanks Chris. That’s exactly what the glass cutter pieces are. I use normal thickness slabs for those. If the slabs are too thick, I can’t break them after they’re scored. I have some Fletcher’s heavy duty rock cutters that work great but a glass cutter works also. That's a great looking batch, near perfection! I would like to say, that's a nice prairie agate. Thanks for sharing. Thanks. The day we found the prairie agate was a lot of fun. jasoninsd took us to a place where almost every rock would take a polish. Thank you. I learned that Alimajos would be best hand picked rather than mail ordered. Some turned out excellent but many were duds. The nodules that were sawed up were kind of disappointing as well. There are still quite a few coming along in coarse. Maybe a few more will turn out nice. Most purchases by pounds don't allow hand picking. It actually blew my mind when I heard you can hand pick in rockshed (and some other suppliers) locally... I miss the good old days. Good rock shops where you can hand pick are few and far between. Some places used to charge a little more for hand picking. It was so worth it. Online sales certainly open up a lot of opportunities though. Brent - I remember carrying that Prairie Agate for Isabelle!! This one is AMAZING: Isabelle remembers and says thank you. That was one of the funnest hounding days ever. That backlit rock was a total surprise. I need to find the rest of that rock. I cut one slice off and set it aside because it looked boring. Brent - I remember carrying that Prairie Agate for Isabelle!! This one is AMAZING: Fish Eggs LOL. I don’t see stuff in rocks until someone else points it out. That’s exactly what it looks like. I love the orby looking ones. Not sure what it is about orbs; I can't get enough. Nice rocks! Thanks. Orbs and eyes are some of my favorites too.
