You should get some really nice slabs from those....or spheres!

I still need to find time to play with mine. That slab up there is what caught my eye. I should set some out as "next" on my cabber. Have you ever sphere'd this material before?

Stuff reminds me of Chinese jasper in a way with the flow and patterns. Just different colors

I have not made any spheres myself, but have done trades of material for spheres. And have had one sphere made of this material. I will post pics in the next post.

I look forward to seeing the sphere pics. It was just on my mind already. I recently bought some slabs from material that had been used for making spheres. The slabs are sort of dumb because they have a giant circle cut out of part of them, but, it's a good way to get some nicer material for sorta cheaper.
Oh, refreshed, and there's the sphere. Very nice. That bottom pic shows a nice side!

Probably from the same piece used to make this one. Not many people have the material. The location is very remote and not easy to reach. And I have only taken a couple of people to the location. So there is not a lot of material out there.
The only people I know of with any of the material that make spheres are the people who I traded with from Utah.
Not much material left there either, but there is one piece my friend and I have been eyeing. We think it is about 300 pounds, so I would have to bring my hydraulic lift to get it in to the truck.

Oh, I wrote that kind of confusing. It was actually rhodonite slabs I bought. The idea of spheres was just on my mind because of these slabs that I have now with big circles cut from them. So now I keep noticing spheres, and then rockbrain mentioned them here as well.
I do hope you get that 300 pounder out some day. But, would it be cut-able?

I have a jackhammer I can break it down to the size I need, or I can use my masonary bits, hammer drill and feather wedges to split it up in to the sizes I need.

Ok, duh, ya. That makes more sense than trying to get it into a saw! :-)
