Sooooo, a year ago my barrels sprung a leak, mixed with the bouncing my pillow block bearings took a poo and my rods got wore down I had always said there were things I wanted to change so I did with the redo. Salvaged 2 of the pillow block bearings, bought 4 new ones and new rods. Added dolly wheels to help control shifting and eliminated the bounce. Popped the barrels open for the first time in a year and added more grit for my first tumble in a year or just over. I left it at 48" long so I can add more length or another set of rods for more barrels.

The metal rims on my old barrel were digging in to the rubber on the rods and damaging the metal rods as well, finally wearing the metal on the barrel rims til they broke. So I bought new barrels and this time I cut rubber strip and glued the strips around the metal barrel rims with Goop (super strong silicone compound) to protect the barrel rims and reduce damage to the rollers.

I've thought about that but it was the big plastic DP 40 barrel that did the damage. The rubber strip is on the to do list tho.

Checked this morning and the DP barrel is already pushing the rubber hose around. May have to consider PVC pipe or wire clamps on the ends

So I bought new barrels and this time I cut rubber strip and glued the strips around the metal barrel rims with Goop (super strong silicone compound) to protect the barrel rims and reduce damage to the rollers. As a quick fix, I ran a few layers of electric tape around the barrel rims and the wear spots on the rods. I'll do the rubber strips when I get paid and order some rubber sheet.
