Title pretty much sums it up for this post and I'll be heading to the hardware store tomorrow but I will say the owners manual says 5mx10 and when I measured them they appear to be 10mm long and 9mm? Wide at head. Maybe I'm measuring wrong? The screws that are in there are rusty and the heads are ready to strip (im lucky i was able to get them out. Can I get stainless steel screws to avoid rusting or will I need to find aluminum? Thanks for reading!!

You might be able to get stainless steel. However, if what you are srewing them into isn't a similar stainless steel, the steel that you are screwing them into may rust (because they are disimilar materials) which would be worse than replacing the screws once in a while. Same is true with aluminum and steel. I think that the aluminum would corrode in that case.

With 10X5 the 5 is the width of the shaft not the head.

rockbrain you are correct, 5mm is width of the screw (part with the threads). Found some stainless steel ones at hardware store. I never thought about what the material they are screwing into. My guess would be aluminum but really I'm unsure. Those screws are the only part of my genie showing any rust. I will make sure to check on things more often!!
