Hi all. Cal stopped by my house yesterday and gave me a couple of nice chunks of Rutilated quartz and I couldn't stand just looking at it so I cut a chunk off and came up with this. It's a very difficult material to photo, so that's why there are 3 different angles. And I had started these a couple of weeks ago and had them sitting on the grinder so I figured I may as well finish them up too. Poppy Jasper Hope you don't mind all the recent cab photos. Ed

Umm yeah, who could get bored looking at stuff like that. You did a beautiful job on that rutilated quartz, that stuff is so cool. Love the poppy jasper too, that piece (the triangle) is really nicely patterned.

Like the way you took the pics of the rutilated quartz. Very spacelike. Of course, I'm partial to that stone. Could've taken it at the landfill and I would have liked it.

That rutile is awesome! and your set-up for the pictures is pretty spectacular too!
I think I'll have to hold on to the couple pieces I have until I get a cabbing rig, I just can't see taking the chances with that stuff in the tumbler

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words. That was the first time I've ever done anything with the rutilated quartz and I have to say, I like it. I don't know if Cal bought it to sell or not, but you might want to ask him John. The other piece he gave me is even better than this one. And the poppy jasper, well, that stuff still amazes me. Kim, I couldn't get a decent close up of the one on the right, but for you, I'll try it again.

Ed, you didn't waste any time did ya? I have the bearing sitting on my work bench waiting for some energy to tackle the beast. Love the first pic, with the starry background, the quartz reminds me of a shooting star! Cal

Tired of cab photos? How could we ever get tired of them? If fact, the more the better! I love that big triangle shaped poppy jasper. It's so rich and warm looking. Actually all three. They must be from the same rock. Those are the kind of thing you want to carry around in your pocket all day long. They came out beautifully. You did a great job cutting that rutilated quartz. I like how you oriented it with that contrasting needle among the rest. Steve

Sorry John, but it fun stuff to play with. I kept looking at those pieces you gave me Cal, and something inside the rock said, cut me, cut me, so I did. Yea, Steve, they all came from the same slab in fact, and only a small fracture or two. Gotta love that stuff.
