Just went to look at wire and it said wholesale only.

Are you logged in? For a period of time, I would get those "wholesale only" tags if I wasn't logged in; now that doesn't happen but *sometimes* I receive a reduced wholesale price. I haven't completed any of the steps Rio currently requires for wholesale" status. Why not call them and see what's up? Are you logged in? Well, the prices were reasonable, so I ordered a bunch of wire. I don't know if those were wholesale prices or not. Appeared to they were to me. I checked my account and it didn't say, but it was trying to upsell me to the next level above wholesale. I don't like the new website.

I wonder if we were grandfathered in during the changes. I know I have had an account there at least 24 years. I never had a business account that I know of because I didn't buy in huge volumes. I was happy with the price breaks to the public.

When it looked like it was wholesale for me, I loaded up my cart (even though I can't afford it right now). With the prices of precious metals being what they are, I thought I should jump on it. Even got some gold fill.

I have to make two 14K pendants for a nephew's wedding, one for his bride and the other for his sister. I can make the settings but I'd rather purchase the bails. I just logged into Rio and I am presented with Wholesale pricing for quantity 1.
The last time that I had purchased from Rio was January of 2022.

I was happy with the price breaks to the public. That would be my guess as well. I've bought from them for years, and sometimes fairly expensive stuff, but never more than $1000 in a year. I don't recall them ever trying to upsell me (except to tell me that I only need $750 more to get free shipping) but that happens in so many places I may just be automatically tuning it out. Berkshire Hathaway took them over a few years or so ago and there have been some complaints about pricing since then, but not on anything that I routinely buy. |
