I'm looking for help on the composition of this material. I recall it having come from Michigan. It consists of quartzite and iron pyrite. There are also traces of a third mineral which is red. Any ideas what it could be? I will set this cab in silver and hopefully sell. It always helps to be able to offer à detailed identification?

I can't tell by the picture, but could it be Josephine's Crown or Mohawkite? I don't remember seeing red in those metallic stones, though.
eta nevermind Josephine's Crown is from Oregon.

Could it be a form of Mohawkite?

rockjunquiejasoninsdThanks for the suggestions. I am not familiar with mohawkite however with what I have read it doesn't seem to be a fit. Hardnesses don't match and my piece lacks any sign of copper. Other than quartzite the predominant material is iron pyrite. A wild stab in the dark would lead me to suggest it may be garnet??? However I don't know if garnet is found on the upper peninsula.
