Where to base camp in Idaho

Looking to find spots where to base from with collection spots of an hour of base.
we will be joining the Idaho Rock and gem club as it looks like a lot of fun and would like to hound with other members as we have been enjoying the Facebook page.
Mainly interested in finding types of picture jaspers and opals
Would appreciate any and all suggestions especially a visit to “Tony’s”😃

If your objective is picture jasper and opal, I'd suggest somewhere near Marsing, ID. It's been years since I've been there and I don't know what the current situation re: accommodations. Graveyard Point and the East Oregon picture jasper sites as well as the Succcor Creek collecting areas are all reasonably close. There's also a great rock shop there, Service Station Gems, that can give you much more current info than me. In fact you might give them a call to get their input. The owner's another Tony, Tony Schultz.

Tony Funk (Idaho Rock Shop) is located a considerable distance from those sites, in Gooding, near Twin Falls Maybe you can drop in on him on your way to the rock club outing, depending on your route. He will also have god info on accommodations. Happy hunting!

When we have hounded Succor Creek and Graveyard Point we have stayed at the RV park in Homedale, probably the closest. We also stayed in Parma once. Where is the club staying?

thanks everyone for the suggestions, we thought this was going to be easy, but we also forgot about all of the wonderful sites areas and activities to do including paddling with our kayaks, hard to believe we will be on our way in a little more than a week, hope to run into some of you during our adventurers
