After surmounting several mountains both real and figurative, I managed to acquire some more large chunks of old stock Ocean Jasper. About 150 lbs worth in 4-pieces from different veins. I came back with some heavy stones but a much lighter wallet... Score! Can't wait to see some slabs!

There they are, each one in a pretty crate and resting on a blanket just like a pet.

Extremely curious to see how the slabs turn out. Never seen that stuff in the rough.

If you sell a slab or two to make your wallet a bit heavier I would be interested. Nice score.

Haven't quite decided what to do with these big pieces yet...
The thoughts in my mind are that they could be slabbed up or cut in-half and face polished on the Rociprolap machines or shaved into blanks for big spheres or some combination of the above.
Any suggestions are welcome.

rockjunquie you beat me to it. I'd even accept them un-slabbed! The more green one just looks like it's going to be spectacular all the way through with all that bubbly goodness on the backside. (I hope the last half of that sentence never gets taken out of context!)

Wow is that nice rough. It will be a lot of fun to slab up. Thanks for showing. I don’t think I’ve seen rough OJ before.

The old miner and importer that had this confirmed he can't get anymore.
Years ago, he said he brought it in by the tons... but he said it's been pretty much mined out and what little accessible material at the sites that may be left in the ground is deep.

I think it's awesome each chunk came with a new pair of gloves! The old miner and importer that had this confirmed he can't get anymore. Years ago, he said he brought it in by the tons... but he said it's been pretty much mined out and what little accessible material at the sites that may be left in the ground is deep. This right here is what would give me a super long pause to make sure whatever was done with the material was the "final answer". Since I'm more of a cabber than anything else, of course I'd love to see these slabbed. That's also why I couldn't imagine using a large amount of that material to make a sphere...I'd be thinking, "What's on the inside??" LOL Whatever you choose to do with it, I'm betting we're all going to want to see the end results!

I will pressure wash them and take a slice to take a look inside.
It will be a bit though before I can work on these stones as I'm tied up building a bridge across a creek in the mountains... always keeping an eye out on the massive amounts of rocks we are moving... but they are all Precambrian so kind of bland and lifeless.

Cutting it presents a dilemma. Cut it A the short way, B the long way, or C the biggest face?

1dave Yes, it's a dilemma for me to decide how to cut them. I'm sure I will cut on the biggest face crossing all the layers though. They are big, the largest weighs about 55 lbs.
