I got my 9lb chunk of rooster tail agate today from Rockman69's auction last weekend, and I'm impressed. So if anybody here won the others pieces he had on this auction, here's what to expect. close up of the two big chunks And, as usual, I had to work up a quick freeform cab It came as one chunk, but nothing that a good whack couldn't fix. Ooooooooooooooooo Ed that stuff is gorgeous, and the cab is beautiful. Where does that stuff come from? Is it more Mexican rock?

That is one awesome stone!
Where can you find that rock? Texas somewhere? Sure would love getting my hands on some tumbling rough. Does Rockman69 sell tumbling rough?

Wow Ed, that's some of the nicest Roostertail I've seen. Really strong reds in that hunk! You got a glassy finish on that cab too.
Cher and Alice: I believe Roostertail ( also sold as Pata de Gallo) is a member of the Vaquilla Agate group and comes out of Durango, Mexico....mel

Ed - You are brave to just wack it. I am sitting on some of my large stones planning how to get them cut for maximum use of the material. But I heep having these imaptient thoughts about wacking.

Yea this stuff is really neat looking material. It comes from Mexico and according to the seller, he just bought a large lot of this stuff and he said to be looking for more of it in future auctions. I just did a quickie on the cab and it took a really nice shine. Daniel, the reason I took a hammer to it, was because the outside was pretty vuggy looking, so I wanted to make sure the inside was what I had hoped it would be. And yes, it was, and a whole lot more. So go ahead man, whack those rocks! I'm very pleased with rockman69 on ebay.
