The blade that came with my vintage 18” Covington slab saw has a very slight bow. At this time it’s so slight that I am not concerned about damaging the arbor and the extra grinding will be good practice since I am just starting out, but I would like to start shopping for a new blade sooner rather than later.
Since I am only on day 3 of saw use and haven’t touched other machines yet I definitely don’t need a high end blade! Any suggestions for a fairly good blade for a beginner? I would like something that is good enough that I could give away or sell slabs without complaints in the future, but doesn’t need to be perfect. I will keep using the old blade for my own slabs for awhile but would be nice to have an extra blade for when I want cleaner cuts from the start, and eventually replace the bowed one.

I just bought blades from Covington Engineering. They ship super fast and have the lowest shipping rates I saw. I would just read what they have to say about their various blades. They tell what they are good to be used for. I just got mine and haven’t used them yet so can’t give a use review. Other people here probably have other favorite places to shop. I looked at several websites and went with Covington because their website was helpful and really clear on arbor hole size.

The 16" blade that came on my Covington has worked well so far for me.
