This is what I got from 10 1/2 weeks of tumbling with a Thumler’s AR-2, trying to be as conservative as possible. Kind suggestions welcome, of course.

Hi. Those rocks look very pretty. The only thing I might suggest is taking some individual photos so there is a little more detail. I tried to click on the image to get a close-up, but alas, I could not. Awesome first batch! Congrats.

proflev - Way to go!! I was going to suggest what Marty suggested. Even if you don't do "individual" pics, pics of a smaller group would bring out some nice details...

Congrats on your first batch! It looks like you used the dreaded 'Assorted Fancy Rock Mix' for your first tumble. It can be pretty discouraging to newcomers that many of the stones in these mixes do not polish as well as expected when tumbled together. I wouldn't even attempt to rotary tumble and polish these together and expect good results. I remember one popular rock tumbling site recommended buying like 20lbs. of mixed stones and then separating them out by type (e.g. Aventurine, Dalmation Jasper, Agate, Amethyst, Quartz), and then tumbling/polishing them separately. I personally recommend that people who are learning rock tumbling use petrified wood or brazilian agates for their first few batches.

Nicely shaped and a great mix of everything. I think they turned out excellent with the AR-2, great job! Love the graduation photo . Thanks for sharing.
