I’ve just started learning how to cut agates. I cut a few pieces from my trip to eastern Oregon this spring. I thought maybe I could skip tumbling in the rotary and just put them through the lotto. But after getting them out of the polish stage, I could see still had the marks from the saw, and they didn’t polish very well. If I put it back through and leave it in the 220 a little longer, will it take those marks out or do I have to do the rotary? I’m including one photo if it’s helpful

It possibly will but will need to run longer at the 220 stage changing grit more often until the marks are gone.

For my Christmas ornaments I always start them at 220 in the Lot-O (right after sawing) and it always gets rid of the saw marks. I usually do 2 days max at 220. This week I did one day and the saw marks were gone. Clear quartz, amethyst, prairie agates and one or two other hard things.
