I had to take out the big guns this time to get a sharper image of the slab, cell phone wasn't cutting it for clarity and I needed a ton of light to get this sharp. This is as good as I can get without a macro lens (just used a 18-55 on this one since I don't have a macro) Hopefully this helps nail it down. realrockhound tribeunited catmandeweAgain, thank you for your help.

Could the first one be Picasso stone/marble? It has an interesting band that could look cool on a cab.

cabby - That marfa is awesome!! Love it!!! rocknrob - I have no clue on the agate. Agates are my Achilles heel. I dug out some willow creek in those colors so you cold compare to yours.

Hahaha, I wish it looked as nice as your creek agate. Unfortunately it's looking like it's not willow creek. You've got WAY more color showing up in that than in my sample. I would love to have been able to say that the colors were washed out in my pic but it's just a cool grey stone. It is going to make a really cool pendant (and hopefully matching earrings but it's a tapered slab so it'll be a tricky one to work on.) I think pebblesky might have something there, it's definitely a Jasper (tests 6.5+ on Mohs). I can't get too rough with it though because at it's thickest it's maybe 3-4mm deep. On that agate, I don't know if it helps but I would swear I've seen that kind of formation on things like a mixed river or ocean jasper but this has none of those colors happening. It's like a deep green. That calcedony surrounding the (I'm just going to call it a plume) is super neat milky textured, almost turtle shell happening. - Rob

Here are two more pictures of that agate with a light behind it. This thing's too pretty to be just a random agate but hey if it's random then I can name it... right? These cracks in it look like I might be able to use them for next month's cab contest maybe. - Rob
