Okay everyone, put on your thinking caps again. I don't know what kind of stone this is, but I'm sure it will fire the imaginations and there will be some good names. The naming will be open til next Sunday, April 1, 12:00 noon. Again, it will be mounted on a wooden base(I haven't picked one out yet) and the winner will recieve both. You can change your name at any time and the latest entry will supersede any previous names. Have fun!

Truly awesome cab. I really like Kim's hatching idea. If you look at the hills, you do see a river canyon. But if you look at the seam and its apparent luminance against the dark wood, it does suggest an egg with a crack. But unlike an egg where we would be seeing a musty beak or claw, we see this bright light. To me this is more of a cosmic hatching. More full of energy than chick. More of a symbol of nature's rebirth at Spring. But cosmic hatching just does not do it for me. I will go with [glow=red,2,300] Nature's Grandeur [/glow] inspired by the poem God's Grandeur by the Jesuit poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. I had to learn this poem in high school, and its power has always kept it not too far back in my mind. God's Grandeur
The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil; It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod? Generations have trod, have trod, have trod; And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil; And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.
And for all this, nature is never spent; There lives the dearest freshness deep down things; And though the last lights off the black West went Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs -- Because the Holy Ghost over the bent World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.
-- Gerard Manley Hopkins

I guess the light I see in the seam is flaming out like in the poem, and the wood is natural - but dead, so the idea of life cycle or rebirth ... etc. And, it alludes to both the grand canyon view of the stone as well as the hatching light perspective. Well that is likely way too abstract to win any poll, but at least I can stop scratching this itch and get back to work.

Stoner this truly amazing - really had to think of this one but it looks like a crater opened up & fog is pouring out of the Earth's core so my vote is:
Fog from Within

"Lightning Strikes Me" again and again and again. Don't know if any of you remember the song but this stone has got to be a tribute to Lou Christie
