Utah's Reefs and Comb Ridges

The Reefs . . . Reefs? Some ridges in the Disturbed Land of Utah are called reefs. WHY? The steep cliffs block travel across land, like a coral reef impedes ships.

Utah:

Buckeye Reef, Capitol Reef, Molen Reef, Red Reef, San Rafael Reef, Silver Reef, White Reef.
