Couple I'm stuck on right now if anyone knows. A yellow Jasper. I thought it might be a low grade yellow tree jasper from wyoming. 1. Possibly a Yellow feather - Moab County, Utah - Thank you rockinrenn . Prefumo canyon brecciated jasper- thank you realrockhoundA yellow brecciated dendritic jasper. First thoughts were stony creek/stone canyon, but something about those guesses seem off to me. 2. "Bighorn" fluted jasper from Wyoming.- thank you amygdule Stone Canyon Brecciated Jasper - thank you realrockhoundA moss agate. Maybe distinct enough for someone to recognize it. I was thinking it looked a little bit like bull canyon moss. 3. Maury Mountain Moss - thanks to realrockhound This seems like a limb cast to me. Where? no clue. 4. Random Carnelian - thank you realrockhound Next - I first thought was obsidian, it's got that appearance dry (all one glassy - solid black.) Wet it turned out polka dot. 5. Last one - a little bit of everything - moss agate? 6.

2: Stoney creek 3: definitely Maury. Seen enough of that to know. 4: random carnelian agate. Also seen more than enough of this material than I’d like to admit.

tribeunited #1 could be yellow feather jasper from around Moab, Utah, but it's not quite the same.

I'm surprised and happy to have so many ID's today! I can't believe you were able to ID a moss again. Those are hard and image search is zero help on it, so I had basically no chance of an ID without you. Once again, I'm impressed with your knowledge and grateful for your help. Also, I would have never gone the carnelian direction, I had no clue they could even have moss! I still have a lot to learn, I'm especially weak on agates. Thanks so much!

I was thinking the same thing, especially because of the slight amount of red that was showing on the edges. I'll make it as a possible for that one. Once again, you've been incredibly helpful. I can't thank you enough!

realrockhound - how familiar are you with Powell Butte Moss? It's near you, isn't it? If you have time I have a question.

Ok - I have this one and it's super weird. Has like bulls eye moss parts - It was labeled as powell butte moss and I was wondering if these weird bulls eyes are normal?

I have some big chunks and slabs of the moss at home. I’ll post some pics when I get a chance.

Holy cow! That stuff is amazing!!! That's the plume version? Super gorgeous!
So....yeah I was right to ask you about this one too.
I've got a variety of material labeled Powell Butte. I'll research and try and find answers before asking you to ID my material like a pain in the bum bum.

That piece very well could have been an oddball piece that came off the ranch. But I’d never know unless I picked it myself

The circle is beautiful, without a doubt. That material is spectacular and you cabbed it with panache.
But I have to stay firm and stand by my choice. The different colors and the shape made it stand out. It was peacocking!

The different colors and the shape made it stand out. It was peacocking! if I remember correctly. That came out of the same slab as the circle, as well as a few others.

#2 looks similar to the "Bighorn" fluted jasper from Wyoming. Here's a pic of a slice that I have. The big chunk was made into a very nice 5" sphere

With all due respect to the rockmeister I'm also thinking #2 might be something other than Stoney Creek. I've studied and explored and collected and bought a lot of Stoney Creek and to me the breccia is different, 'dirtier' and almost always containing red. My first thought was Stone Canyon but it's missing a couple of tells for that. San Jacinto Creek also came to mind from a Stone Canyon region possibility.

Maybe I’m thinking of a different material, but all the Stoney creek I’ve seen had that black in it, unlike the others.
