Cal, we couldn't have gone at a better time. The waterfalls were all over the place and the usual ones were spectacular.

Great pics Ed! Congratulations on doing such a fine job keeping the teeming masses of humans and cars out of the pictures. My wife and I went back for the first time in about 25 years last year. ( found that the time long away lead to considerable shock) Park was still beautiful though the campground where we used to camp is now fancy housing for the rangers, the $20 gate fee was ridiculous, the two lane traffic jam was horrific, and the park rangers were all so skinny they looked like they hadn't seen meat in years! ( Oh where have the manly men and sexy wholesome outdoorsy women gone?) *L* Other than that though, still one of America's greatest parks...mel

WoW! That is just gorgeous! I love the 2nd pic of the mini waterfall, it looks more like an oil painting than a picture. Awesome job Ed, thanks so much for sharing the gorgeous scenery with us.

Those are great photos Ed, Yosemite is a beautiful place. My parents used to take me there several times a year when I was a kid.

Thanks everyone, the last time I was there was in the early 70's and it was great to get back there. We definetly went at the perfect time because the weather was great, there weren't a bunch of people(I'm sure that by today it's a zoo there) and with all the rain and snow we had out here this year, it just made for spectacular views everywhere you looked. Mel, the $20 entrance fee wasn't all that bad considering it was good for 7 days. We stayed at a motel in Oakhurst and drove the 49 miles to the valley floor each day. The area is so beautiful I didn't mind the drive at all. I'm going to go through my pics today and will post more in another post.
Oh yea, I forgot to mention the fact that on the face of El Capitian(the first pic) there are climbers at different levels, but you have to be up real close to see them, and then, only with binoculars or a high powered camera lens. Those guys are crazy!!!

Ed. I agree with you that the fee charged is not bad for a week visit but of course I had ranch work to do and we had just driven up to see the sights and cool off as it was about 105 that day at the ranch. It wouldn't hurt them to have a day use fee for one day visitors etc. All us locals fought that new fee tooth and nail but I'm afraid the park is pretty much about making as much money as possible right now. As your pics show, it's still gorgeous place and the fee was not really a problem for us but for folks that are more limited on funds ( Mariposa County has a very low per capita income) the $20 fee excludes lots of poorer folks and turns the park into more of a exclusive resort for the more well heeled tourist. Sorry for the rant but I'm pretty radical when it comes to the public's use of public land. You know even the poor kick in taxes for the support of federal land etc and no one should be excluded from public land use for any reason, especially one involving entry fees......mel

I agree, day passes would be nice, but I doubt you could really see all the sights in one day.

We purchased a National Parks pass for just this reason. For $50 a year, you and the people in your vehicle, or you and your immediate family (parents, spouse, and children) if it's an individual fee, get into the parks for free. It only covers the entrance fee, but it sure does help out. This pass is responsible for my family's frequent trips to Carlsbad Caverns.
...okay, maybe my family's frequent trips to Carlsbad Caverns are directly responsible for us purchasing the pass!

Beautiful pics!! Thanks for posting, I'll have to go there one day for sure. Funny thing is that I've been to roughly 65 different countries but haven't really seen my own yet.
